Privacy policy

PDF Hanko processes your documents on your device and never sends them to us. This page explains the permissions it uses and where your data is kept.

PDF Hanko ("the app") is a PDF app made by Z-SOFT CO., LTD ("we"). It is built offline first: editing, stamping, scanning and text recognition all happen on your device. We run no server, and we never receive your documents or your personal information.

The data, item by item

1. What the app handles, and where it is kept

Nothing leaves your device unless you share or export it yourself.

  • PDF documents

    Stays on your deviceOnly when you share, export or print

    The app's storage on your device. On iPhone they also appear in the Files app under PDF Hanko.

  • Edits (drafts)

    Stays on your device

    A draft file per document, on your device. The original PDF is unchanged until you save.

  • Stamps and signatures

    Stays on your device

    On your device, as images and stroke data.

  • My profile (name, address…)

    Stays on your device

    On your device only, for form autofill.

  • Scans and OCR results

    Stays on your device

    Processed on your device and saved as PDFs and search text. OCR uses the operating system's on-device text recognition.

  • Settings and App Lock

    Stays on your device

    In the app's settings on your device. Biometric data never reaches the app.

  • Pro purchase

    Sent outsideTo the App Store / Google Play when buying or restoring

    Apple or Google handles the purchase; the app only records on your device whether you have Pro.

2. What we collect

Nothing. The app has no accounts, and contains no analytics or advertising SDK.

3. Device features the app uses

  • Camera: to scan documents and to photograph a real stamp or signature. Photos are processed on your device only.
  • Photos: to import images for PDFs or stamps, and to save PDF pages as images.
  • Face ID / Touch ID / biometrics: to unlock the app when App Lock is on. The operating system handles authentication; the app never receives biometric data.

Your device asks for permission the first time each feature is used. If you say no, everything else still works.

4. Network use

The app only goes online to buy PDF Hanko Pro, restore a purchase or check your purchase status. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles this; we never receive your payment details.

If you have allowed your device to share analytics, technical details of an app crash may reach us through Apple or Google. These reports never contain your documents.

5. Storage and deletion

Documents, stamps, signatures and your profile are stored only in the app's storage on your device. Deleting the app deletes them. We keep no backup, so deleted data cannot be recovered.

With "Delete temporary files automatically" on, files made for sharing or exporting are removed when the app goes to the background and when it starts.

6. Sharing with third parties

We don't receive your information, so we can't share it. Files you share yourself are handled under the policy of the service you share them with.

7. Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, whatever their age.

8. Changes to this policy

Any change will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
